Thank you for using Gemini Page Insights ("the Extension"), developed by TheRealPourya ("the Developer"). This Privacy Policy outlines how the Extension handles your information. By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

The Gemini Page Insights extension is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:

• Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for, access, or store any personal information such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
• Browsing History: The Extension does not track or store your overall browsing history. It only accesses the content of the current active tab when you explicitly trigger the summarization feature.
• Usage Analytics: The Extension does not collect analytics about how you use the extension itself (e.g., frequency of use, features used).
• User-Generated Content (beyond API interaction): While the content of the webpage you summarize is processed, the Extension itself does not store this content after the summarization process is complete with the Gemini API.

2. Information Processed by the Extension

To provide its core functionality, the Extension processes the following information:

• Google Gemini API Key:
  • You are required to provide your own Google Gemini API Key for the Extension to function.
  • This API Key is stored locally on your computer using Chrome's synchronized storage (chrome.storage.sync). This means it can be synced across Chrome browser instances where you are logged in with the same Google account, for your convenience.
  • The Developer does not have access to your API Key.
  • Your API Key is sent directly from the Extension's background script to Google's Gemini API endpoints with each summarization request.
• Webpage Content:
  • When you activate the summarization feature on a webpage, the Extension extracts the main textual content of that page.
  • This extracted text is sent to the Google Gemini API along with your API Key and selected preferences to generate a summary.
  • This content is processed in memory and is not stored by the Extension after the API call is completed.
• User Preferences:
  • Settings you configure in the Extension's options page, such as preferred AI model, output language, and summary style, are stored locally using chrome.storage.sync.
  • These preferences are used to tailor the API request to the Gemini API.

3. Interaction with Third-Party Services (Google Gemini API)

• The core functionality of Gemini Page Insights relies on the Google Gemini API.
• When you request a summary, your API Key, the extracted webpage content, and your configured preferences (model, language, style) are transmitted to Google's servers.
• Your interaction with the Google Gemini API is subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and the Google APIs Terms of Service. We strongly recommend you review these policies to understand how Google handles the data sent to its API.
• The Developer is not responsible for the data handling practices of Google.

4. Data Security

• Your Gemini API Key and preferences are stored using chrome.storage.sync, which is a secure storage mechanism provided by the Chrome browser.
• The Extension uses HTTPS to communicate with the Google Gemini API, ensuring that data transmitted (API Key, page content, preferences) is encrypted in transit.

5. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will take steps to address it.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of the Extension, and the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised.
